Why Choose TICTI?

When it comes to therapy, you have options.  TICTI is often — but not always — the best choice. During a free consultation, we guide you through the different options and together figure out what would be best for you. We will not encourage an intensive if it is not the right time.

If intensive trauma therapy is the right choice for you, here are some reasons to consider doing an intensive with TICTI:

  • TICTI has been an international leader in intensive trauma therapy since 2009. Our leadership and training programs have led to the growing popularity of trauma therapy intensives.
  • TICTI has been chosen to operate grant-funded programs to provide intensives to victims of crime in Western MA; students and their caregivers in Wilmington, NC; and court-involved adults in Rochester, NY. When someone wants the leading authority in trauma therapy intensives, they come to us.
  • We’re the only organization in the country that offers our research-supported intensive therapy model.
  • We use the most effective and efficient of the research-supported trauma healing methods, including EMDR, Progressive Counting, and Flash technique, as well as attachment work, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other parts work modalities, art therapy, and more.
  • Our founder and executive director, Ricky Greenwald, PsyD, is a leading expert in EMDR and Flash, and the developer of Progressive Counting (PC) as well as our intensive trauma therapy model.
  • Consistent with the research findings, our clients report positive and lasting results.

Our Therapists

Our expert therapists have undergone extensive specialized training and supervision. Your assigned therapist will work one-on-one with you for up to six hours a day, typically for five days in a row. Sometimes people need more time; you are able to schedule as many days as may be needed. For the more complex cases, we have a team of experts we rely on for resources and support.

We use the most successful trauma healing techniques—EMDR, PC, and Flash, as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS), parts work, creative arts and more. Our founder and executive director, Ricky Greenwald, PsyD, is a leading expert in EMDR, and the developer of PC as well as our intensive trauma therapy model. TICTI therapists have experience working with people of all ages from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Better Outcomes

Weekly talk therapy primarily offers strategies for coping and personal coaching, which can result in better symptom management and some improvement in your sense of well-being. Or the focus may be on insight and personal growth, which can take a long time. Even when weekly therapy includes EMDR or other trauma healing techniques, there is often not enough time to work on trauma resolution. Methods like EMDR require enough time and focus to get the job done.

With our intensive trauma therapy model, trauma/loss memories and related symptoms can be processed and resolved, so you can leave behind negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and have the space to grow and build the life you want for yourself. This healing work does not need to take months or years; depending on your situation, it can often be done in a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

TICTI clients have described the following benefits after doing intensive trauma therapy:

  • “It was completely transformative.”
  •  “Now that I am feeling so much freer, I am pursuing things that give me joy, and that is a new thing for me.”
  • “This is stuff that I carried for decades. And I was able to put it away and move forward and my life has changed in amazing and fabulous ways.”
  • “I am so much more myself now, without carrying this trauma with me”
  • “I tell people I am cured from PTSD. I do not suffer from the symptoms of that anymore.”

What is it like?

You will have a phone or Zoom meet & greet with your therapist ahead of time to help you feel more comfortable and prepared.

When you begin your intensive, the therapist will guide you through goal setting while respecting your autonomy and agency to make choices about your treatment. You will be that therapist’s only client during your intensive. You will work collaboratively with your therapist on a treatment plan and do some preparation before you start the trauma healing. When you’re ready, you will start working through your trauma and loss memories.

On the last day of your intensive, your therapist may help you develop and practice skills to manage anticipated challenges and continue progressing toward your goals. If you and your therapist decide that you could benefit from additional days, you will have an opportunity to schedule those days.
