This page includes links to some of our favorite on-line sources of information about child trauma, adult trauma, and trauma & problem behaviors. We are very selective and only list a few sites. If you know of a site that should be listed here, please let us know.

Information relating to their programs, research, training opportunities, and publications.

International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies

The official ISTSS home page. Information on membership, conferences, special interest groups, and publications.

The National Center for PTSD

Several types of information about PTSD, re war veterans and many other populations. Also provides access to the PILOTS data base which contains information on over 30,000 trauma-related publications.

Sidran Institute for Traumatic Stress Education and Advocacy

Sidran provides a nationwide trauma treatment referral service, provides trauma-related information to survivors and professionals, and publishes books and other materials for the public as well as professionals.

Trauma & Problem Behaviors

Seeking Safety

A research-supported treatment approach for trauma/PTSD and substance abuse.

Sanctuary Model

A research-supported approach for milieu treatment of trauma/PTSD and problem behaviors.

Restorative Justice

A research-supported approach focused on restitution and repair of relationships. It may be warm & fuzzy; it also reduces recidivism and improves victim satisfaction, compared with the conventional justice appraoch.

Motivational Interviewing

A research-supported treatment approach for guiding clients to identify personal goals and commit to positive behavioral changes. Useful for a range of problem-behavior treatment issues including substance abuse, addictions, aggression, and crime.

Parent Training

There are several research-supported parent training programs. Here are links to an OJJDP fact sheet (with its own links to programs) and to the Incredible Years program.

Olweus Bullying Prevention

This program has been found effective in school settings internationally. Here are links to the SAMHSA Model Program and Blueprints Model Programs documentation.
