Give to CTIWe train the healers. Healing is now more possible than ever before, using proven-effective methods that have been developed and refined in recent years. To have the most impact, we teach these methods to those who live and work where the kids are - in New England, across the USA, and around the world. Much of this is done low-fee or no-fee, in order to get the skills into the right hands.
You can help. You can support CTI's activities with a donation of any amount. Your gift is tax-deductible.
Your gift can be made in honor or memory of the person(s) and/or event of your choice. You will be invited to provide these details after the shopping cart transaction has been completed.
Israelis have lived with ongoing terror and occasional war for their entire history. The July/August 2006 war displaced a large portion of the population; most have at least one friend or family member who has been hurt or killed; and many have been directly exposed to bomb attacks. There is now an urgent need for more of the country's mental health professionals to receive the specialized trauma-related training they need to help their children.CTI provided trauma treatment workshops for mental health professionals all over Israel both in 2004 and 2005. We also provided training to house-parents and others working in a children's village for orphans and foster children. In December 2006 we provided many pro bono workshops for mental health professionals in trauma centers and schools, to help Israeli kids to recover from the war and related stress. One of the workshops was for an organization including both Israeli and Palestinian therapists. We will return to provide more training in the summer of 2007.
Your generosity will show that, regardless of politics, people care about Israel's children.
Trinidad & Tobago is a former British colony in the Caribbean, with a population of about 40% African origin and 40% Indian origin. This was a safe and friendly country until just a few years ago, when a criminal element began to terrorize the population with near-daily kidnappings, assaults, and murders. As trauma-related problems increase, local mental health professionals are trying to obtain the specialized training they need to be able to help their people as effectively as possible. This is not so easy, as the professionals have limited access both to funding and to high quality training. In collaboration with the Franciscan Institute for Personal and Family Development, in 2005 CTI provided the 5-day Child & Adolescent Trauma Treatment Intensive to a group of 27 mental health professionals from Grenada, Santa Lucia, Tobago, and Trinidad. In such a small country, training so many professionals can have enormous impact. We also provided a full-day trauma workshop attended by 200 parents, teachers, social workers, and others; and we participated in television and newspaper interviews to further educate the public.
We are back for 3 visits in 2006/07, again in collaboration with the Franciscan Institute, to provide the EMDR Training Program for 17 participants. Each time we go, we also provide pro bono workshops for teachers, social workers, parents, and others who work with kids. Your generosity will help to subsidize these efforts so that more professionals (and others) can be trained, and more people can be helped.
